Planting By The Moon

The sun shone brightly for our BOGI plant stall at the Taste Festival held at Alexandra Park on Saturday, 6th September.

Many thanks to the members for providing such an amazing array of plants for the visitors to select.

There would have been more than 2000 plants available – ranging from herbs, vegetables and flowers.

People were encouraged to choose up to five free plants and Karyn suggested to perhaps include a plant that they hadn’t grown before!

President Marlene inspired the passers-by to select free plants, buy a ticket in our raffle or donate as a ‘thankyou’ for their free gift!

So many were amazed at receiving free plants! At the end of the day, our popular strawberry plant raffle earned our club over $700 and the donation box $339.

As with any volunteer club, it is the members we thank for their untiring efforts in organising, setting up, pulling down the marquees, providing plants and being available on the day to man the tables.

A big thankyou in particular to President Marlene and her husband, Malcolm, for setting up and taking down the marquees and Marlene also being on tap to encourage enthusiastic gardeners!

One of our members, Lyn MacIlwain won 2nd prize – an empty plant stack. The recipients of the 1st and 3rd prizes, were equally happy with their prizes! All in all, it was a very successful day!

Strawberry Stack was the 1st prize
